That was the 9 hour exam I took back in April. I DID GREAT! The EIT is a state board exam that gives a national standard for being "good engineers". What this does for me is that I can now apply for the P.E. (professional engineering license), which gives the ability rule the world with an Iron fist.

Not really, but it is difficult to conceive of anything that a P.E. could not do. It is also a sort of a professional order of elite engineers who are the economic and industrial leaders of our society. Lots of opportunities would open up for me everywhere if I got that license. However, I will need to work at my engineering job for a few years before I can apply. That means that I will hang around hear for a couple of years enjoying life.

Thank you all so much for your prayers on this issue for me.

-ME the M.E. I am gearing up for a great hike in the Olympics and a sailing trip around the Olympic peninsula with my Uncle. I am developing a new form of transportation for our society at my school. This is dual-fuel vehicle that is setup to run on: methanol, E85 alcohol, gasoline, ethanol, or household electricity. We estimate about 100 or so miles to the gallon comparable to gasoline

With some further modification, it would also be able to run off of Hydrogen in either fuel cell or supercharged configuration. This car is an excellent platform for testing experimental vehicular power plants. I designed the drive train and the automation/control systems. This is the next generation hybrid.

The flaming Theta double dote is is a special symbol to us, because in our Machine design class this is a symbol for angular acceleration when used in differential equations for calculation of torque transmission. It was always the symbol that killed all of us on every test. So, we dubbed it the FLAMING THETA DOUBLE DOT OF DEATH!!!!!

James C. Despite man's best efforts to make beauty, God wins all the time.

When I started to study engineering, I was worried that it would tarnish my appreciation for God's creative genius. You know, making what used to awe me into nothing more than formulas and numbers. Now, I know that was not the case at all. The only thing that has changed is that I can see more clearly the detailed strokes of his paint brush. I notice the perfect blend of science and art working together ever since creation. I can now see a little more of the mighty God we have. I can see that the most mundane, normal, or trivial thing God creates is still beyond our wildest dreams.

Truly my Thermo-Mechanical Engineering degree actually equates to nothing more than an art appreciation degree. All this time, I have actually been learning to become an avid admirer for the greatest artist of them all.

"One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple."

-Psalm 27:4

James C. This semester. I have one more final tomorrow and then I am done for the semester. On Thursday, I plan on going Snow boarding with friends and then probably get going home. I will need about one week to de-frag my brain after doing a heavy semester, but after that, I should be a normal person again. I have five of my six classes done with and I have one more final to do tomorrow. Almost done. After this semester, I will have some time off. That will be wonderful. This summer will be awesome I have from May till August off. In August I go back to work, but as an ENGINEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't have my P.E. yet, but that is in the works as well.

James C. We went to a school and put on a Christmas party for all the kids. A friend of mine (who is blessed with girth) was Santa and another friend painted this Santa on my face. I had a blast playing with a lot of little kids who live in a poor area of town. I absolutely love working with kids. It sure made my day and made me happy. I asked Santa for a Red Rider B.B. GUN with a compass in the stock, but he said, "You'll shoot my eye out!" I get that every Christmas... Oh well, all the kids had such a great time and just loved playing with us (even though, I had more fun playing with them). I am getting involved with a great Christian group, they are a good encouragement for me.

Now! All my dreams are slowly coming true. God has had his hand gently guiding me through the past 5 years of college. To him be the glory.

Halloween has been fun here at SMU. The monks in my Religion class commented on how he is always in costume with his long black clothing. My Physics teacher dawned a costume of Larry the Lab Rat (one of his many cartoon creations). It is so nice to have a Christian teacher who has a lot of fun with his classes. He is a bit of a dork, but he sure keeps me laughing.

Today my prophesier highlighted the passage in Jeremiah where God says that he knew us within the womb. This gave my teacher a chance to express the pro-life argument to the class. In a state of pro-choice people, it is wonderful to go to a school that is openly pro-life.

Life is good.

ME!

James C. Everyday is like a gift from God to spend marveling at his power and grace. Our God is so amazing that he even gave us the Bible to read and know him more.

Today was awesome because I got to go to a Katinas concert at a local Calvary Chapel. It was so cool to hear them play lots of worship music. It always touches my heart so deeply to hear praises to our Lord and King. What was really layed upon my heart was that God has a plan for our lives. Not to heard to believe, but being stuck in school, I sometimes feel a little confused about what I should be doing with my life. This concert was great in that it reminded me of God's promise he told me as I began college 4 years ago. I have walked this far only because of his grace and guidance in my life. When this degree is finely over, God be the glory. The only thing I really want is to someday, when the trials of life are over, and I go home, I want to hear: "Well done, my good and faithful servant".

Whoever reads this, Be encouraged and encourage others this day.

Keep praying

James C. Another 8 months of rain. Oh, well. That is how life goes up in Washington. The nice thing about the rain (it just may be the Seattlite in me) I love to go and read my Bible at some coffee shop. It is sort of a NW thing to do. I love going to coffee shops and talking with all sorts of people. I have met people that do a lot of corporate work such as CEOs and other types of business oriented people. They have a great place down close to the school. It is a Gig Harbor based company called Cutter's Point. They have FREE internet and FREE refills on Coffee. Yup, I will spend some time doing studies there. Don't worry, I still love Starbucks.

I have meet some really neat people at St. Martin's University. A few people from Sudan, they are awesome Christians and they are really fun to do stuff with. The Christian ministry here at SMU has been really supportive and encouraging. I really love the fact that this place has spelled out in Black and White their pro-life stance on society. God Bless the Catholics for that. I find that really encouraging to be spending my money on a Pro-Life school. This is where my blog name comes from. My car's license plate. (I just put some new ones on my car that say the same thing)

Their are also lots of other Bible-believing Churches around. I am going to attend a bunch of them over the next few weeks while I am in Lacey. Life is Good. However, I can't wait to be done with this degree. It is probably senor-idis setting in, but life is starting to call me to do other things as well. It sounds funny, but I look forward to getting to be a full time Engineer for the DOD, I like what I do. I know I am doing what God has called me to be doing with the life he has given to me. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." - Hebrews 4:12

Is the word of God dangerous? Yes it is! The word of God is something that cannot be ignored nor can it be cast as old new. The word of God is life to those who believe and death to those who do not. Regardless of what some people say, the Bible does not change meaning with time. The Bible has really only two main characters in it, People, and God. Since God is the same today as he has been for all eternity and people are still in the fallen nature, the Bible still applies quite well. The Bible is the Voice of Truth in a world full of lies.

Take today as is, then give it to the Lord. Put the Lord first. Know that his word is a powerful weapon in our hands (note: weapons are dangerous). The word of God has the power to judge, heal and save. The world wants to ignore it, because they fear it. They fear it because they have no defense against it.

Today at school, we opened the day with a prayer around the flag pole. Surprisingly, a school that confesses a 95% Christian back ground, only eight people come. I remember in a secular High School, we had well over 300 people come to the pole. Life is funny like that. I just wonder where all the others were? Although... It was early in the morning. :)

Big smiles to yall back home!

ROCKS!!!!

007-HZD strikes again!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://james007hzd.blogspot.com/2005/09/danger-word-of-god.html' title='Danger! How dose one define their own life? If I didn't live in the U.S.A, what would I be? If I had different parents what would I be called? What is something that is truly me? I can only speak from my own life on this issue.

Many business people judge themselves by success and money, while others see it in a more academic sense of IVY league Dr.'s and MBA's... Etc. Some people define it as where they work. Others, where they live. In High School, it was cars and how many letters you had on your jacket. In some cases, a last name is all that a person needs to define their whole life (i.e. Bush, Gates, Graham...). In the military, they have a very simply way of doing it. The military just has a bunch of colorful strips and pins that define who they are and how they are to be thought of (that makes it easy).

Who am I, Me? I define my life by only one thing. I am God's. "...Just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. 4For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything..", Hebrews 3:3-4. Since I confess a faith in Christ, my life being built by his hands. Not many people will define themselves by whose they are, but I fully believe that we can either belong to God or to the enslaving desires of our own life (freedom under God, or slavery under man). While I may say, "I am an American" or, "I am a Engineer", I am actually better defined by the fact that I am a servant of Christ. Whom (or what) a person serves dictates every path that person takes.

I always like the first passage in James where it says this: "James, a servant of God, and the Lord Jesus Christ". While my name happens to be James also, that is how I want to be defined also. Each day I write that label upon my mind and remember that it is not a title for me, but a mark of ownership of the one who is making me.

This message inspired by the band Casting Crowns' song "Who am I"

007-HZD strikes again!

James C. The freedoms we enjoy often puts the focus of life on us. I don't know about you, but I get really board with focusing on myself. The only time I can think of that I feel truly liberated from our foolish problems and self focus is to put our eyes on Christ. The ability to worship God is an abundant liberation from ourselves and who we make ourselves out to be. This is a picture of our worship group (the bucket) at SMU. If you look closely, you can see a monk playing the jimbay. What I think is so cool is the fact that only about 400 people live on campus and on a Tuesday night, we have up to 70 people coming just to worship our Lord Jesus. Really and truly, what else is there? What is always being taught in our classes is that our mission here on earth is to, "Love God with all our hearts and love our fellow man". This is something that the staff here quote every day to us in some way. I have never seen a school so encouraging of students and staff to be so open with their faith.

007-HZD strikes again!

James C. I am just getting into the swing of things as far as school goes. I have been spending some time with my Dad's side of the family down south. The other night I got to go to my uncle's B-day party as he turned the big SIX-ZERO. I got to see my cousin and their families as well as my Grandma and Aunt Cheri. It is always nice when I get the chance to see and spend time with them.

The next day, I spent some time with my cousin Pete and his family. This is Pete's wife Michelle and their new baby Jackson. They were so kind as to invite me for dinner and a movie on Sunday. It truly was a nice and relaxing time. I spent some time helping Pete clean up his shop, and that gave us a chance to catch up and talk about lots of stuff.

My cousin Pete is a man with lots of talents and tools. He has just about everything a person needs to build anything or just have some fun. This next picture is of my cousin Pete and his Rocket launcher (no man should be with out one). He uses it mostly for squirrel hunting and pest control. (just kidding it is disarmed)

This is a picture of their home that they just finished building last year. It definitely shows Pete's attention to craftsmanship and dedication for taking on big projects.

So all in all, I am having a good time down in the Lacey area. This next picture is of my school front. I think this place was built in about 1900.

This is sure a cool area. It is hard to see, but this is the front area of the school and there is scripture all over the walls and buildings of this place. This is definitely a far cry from the public schools that I have been in. That said, I can't wait until I get my degree all done. That day will come very soon. AND THEN! School is going great for me. I have not been able to secure a digital camra yet, but I am working on it. This is a really cool place. St. Martins is more like a Rivendal sort of place. When you have nothing to do, their are lots of woods to go running through and their are a great deal of camping areas around the Lacey area. I will keep my Blog up, but I NEED a camra for really expressing what it is like here. The people are great the campus Christian Club and Republican Club are very active. I look forward to trying and express this more, but I got to get to class.

James C. Special not only because of what we can accomplish or what we can do, but because of who made it. Each moment of each day was crafted special by a magnificent artist/engineer. The beauty of a moment made by his hands is much more then anyone could ever duplicate in our human abilities.

Before we get ourselves rapped up in the concerns of our lives, take a moment to look and remember that the Lord is good and he is in control of everything; from his love on the cross to the beautiful sunsets he gives us each and every day. The Lord is good let the earth REJOICE!

Be encouraged this day and encourage others.

James C.
